MSOM Program Requirements

ADMISSION TO PERU STATE COLLEGE GRADUATE PROGRAMS AND PROGRAM CHECKPOINTS

Please pay special attention to the checkpoints listed below. Completing these in a timely manner will assist you in progressing through the program.

Admission to Peru State College

The criteria and materials listed below must be submitted by degree-seeking candidates prior to the completion of the first semester of coursework. Decisions regarding full graduate standing will be based upon these criteria and materials.

Applicants will be provided notice of their conditional, probation, or full admission by written communication from Peru State College's Admissions Office. Each applicant will be considered for admission without reference to race, color, religion, gender, nationality, disability, age, marital status, or sexual orientation.

Students admitted on a conditional admit status may register for classes for the semester noted in the application to be admitted. If the documents to receive full admit status are not received by the end of the semester the student begins completing courses, the student will be restricted from registering for future courses until all documents have been submitted.

Students admitted on a probation admit status may register for classes for the semester noted in the application to be admitted. When a student has displayed successful competency by completion of 12 credit hours with a 3.0 or higher grade point average the probation admits status will be changed to full admit status upon approval by the Dean of Graduate Programs.

Following are the criteria and materials that must be submitted in order to be admitted to the graduate program. Materials should be directed to the Graduate Admissions Office, Peru State College, P.O. Box 10, Peru, NE 68421.

Completed online Application for Admission form.
Official transcript verifying possession of an earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university. Full admission requires an overall minimum grade point average of 3.00 in a 4.00 system.
Two recommendation forms addressing personal qualifications and potential for graduate school success, including one from a direct supervisor.
Professional resume.
Students are also required to complete the online orientation.

Completion of Program and Conferring of Degree 

Candidates shall submit the Application for Graduation and the associated application fee (currently $75.00) to the Graduate Programs Office, Peru State College, P.O. Box 10, Peru, NE 68421.

At this final program checkpoint, the candidate is expected to:

Successfully complete all coursework and program requirements, as verified and approved by the Dean of Graduate Programs.
Submit an Application for Graduation form and the associated fee
Applications for Graduation must be received by the Graduate Programs Office by the following dates; otherwise, student graduation may delayed to the next consecutive graduation date:

November 15 - for students planning to graduate the following May or August
April 15 - for students planning to graduate the following December
Graduation dates follow the last day of each semester/summer term in May, August, December.  Peru State College holds one commencement ceremony in May.  August graduates may participate in the prior or following May commencement ceremony.  December graduates may participate in the following May commencement ceremony.

All requirements for the Master of Science degree must be completed within a period of seven years from the date the student registers for the first graduate course applicable toward his/her degree.

Graduate credit earned from another accredited graduate institution may be applied     toward the Master of Science degree provided: (1) the hours are of a grade of “B” or above; (2) the credits would have counted toward a graduate degree program at the institution where earned; (3) courses must have been completed within the last seven years from the date of first-class with Peru State; and (4) the credits have been approved by the Dean of Graduate Programs.

Students must request permission from the Dean of Graduate Programs for approval of transfer credits to be applied to a program of study by submitting the Transfer Request Form and by requesting that an official transcript from the institution where credit was received be sent to the Dean of Graduate Programs.

The degree student shall maintain a grade point average of no less than 3.0 and a grade of "C" or higher in all courses on the Program of Study.  A maximum of 6 credit hours of "C" will be accepted on the approved Program of Study.  Failure to maintain an adequate grade point average shall result in administrative removal from the program.
